Dirk Miller

PhD, LP

Executive Chair | Founder | Therapist

Dirk (he/him) is passionate about guiding clients through the entire journey toward recovery. As the founder of multiple programs in the eating disorder and substance abuse space, he develops supportive, non-judgmental platforms where people transform their lives. He avidly believes in the power of relationships—with therapists, dietitians, or individuals on a similar path. His personal experience with substance abuse and eating disorders informs his strong advocacy for helping individuals transcend adversity with strength.

At the University of Minnesota, Dirk earned his PhD in Counseling Psychology, a Certificate in Alcohol and Drug Counseling, and an MPH with an emphasis in health care management. His alma mater honored him with a Distinguished Alumni Award and Larry Wilson Award from the College of Education and Human Development. As one of the Founding members of the REDC, Dirk serves on the Board of Directors and chairs the Ethics Committee. Currently, he also serves as a Board member for the Retreat in Wayzata, MN, and formerly, he served on the Governing Council of the MN Psychological Association.

Originally hailing from Western Pennsylvania, Dirk now lives in a Minneapolis suburb with his wife and life partner, Jennifer, who has helped him every step of the way with developing The Emily Program. She is an author and together they share a wonderful daughter who lives and works in NYC. He’d be remiss if he failed to mention his Tibetan Terrier, Penny. In his free time, it’s a safe bet you’ll find Dirk on the golf course.
